The Maple Lake Messenger will host a public forum for those running for Maple Lake City Council positions and Maple Lake Mayor on Wednesday, Oct. 14, at 7 p.m. at Maple Lake City Hall.
The event will be moderated by former Maple Lake Mayor Mike Messina and broadcast on the Maple Lake Government Access Channel 180. The forum will give candidates an opportunity to express their views on city issues and answer any questions the public may have.
The public is welcome to attend this event in person, however, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, those not wishing to attend in person can contribute via Zoom or by submitting their questions to the Messenger office by Monday, Oct. 12. Questions should be sent to news@maplelakemessenger.com and will be presented to the candidates by Messina Wednesday evening. Visit the Maple Lake City Website for more information on the Zoom option.
If you live in the City of Maple Lake you will have the opportunity to cast your vote, Nov. 3, for two of three candidates running for seats on the city council. The mayor’s seat is also up for election this year, but incumbent Todd Borell is the only candidate. In the city council race, only two candidates will be listed on the ballot, John Haack and Brian Fondurulia, but there is another in the running. Wayne Paumen has started a write-in campaign, providing competition for two seats given up by councilmembers Kirk Larson and Heather Kadlec who will not seek re-election.
