Maple Lake Schools will go to distance learning, Nov. 30

Just days after hospitals expressed concern about capacity to treat Minnesotans with COVID-19 and Governor Tim Walz announced restrictions aimed at curbing its spread, Maple Lake Schools declared it is time to go back to distance learning.

Superintendent Mike Rowe said in a letter to families Friday, Nov. 13, due to a severe uptick of COVID cases recently in the county, community and schools it has becomes very difficult to sustain the infrastructure needed to successfully run in-person education.

“We continue to see more and more staff and students forced out of the building due to sickness or quarantine protocols. As districts around the state struggle to find substitutes and staffing resources, it becomes increasingly challenging to safely provide the level of education that our students deserve,” he wrote.
