100 Women Who Care

By Brenda Erdahl

The simple brilliance of 100 Women Who Care is perhaps this Wright County giving circle’s biggest accomplishment and biggest draw for women who want to give back to their community but don’t know how.

There are no volunteer hours and no soliciting for money, instead a group of 100 women get together for lunch four times a year where they enjoy a moving presentation from a pre-approved, local charitable organization and write a check for $100. The recipient organization leaves with $10,000 and the women leave with the feeling of having made a real impact in their community. It’s a simple, no-nonsense approach to giving that has raised close to $100,000 for communities throughout Wright County, including Maple Lake, Annandale, and Buffalo since the group’s inception in the fall of 2016.

“My friend Denise (Blizil) told me about the group and invited me to the luncheon, right then and there I signed up,” said Lori Hegle. “The idea of giving my $100 and turning it into $10,000 made my heart feel good. I could never give $10,000 to one organization, but I could give $100.”
