The Maple Lake gymnastics team will open its season on Thursday, Dec. 2 at Buffalo with eight returning varsity athletes and a lot of experience.

The Irish returned to the gym Monday Nov. 8 for the first day of practice, and coaches are still evaluating skills, but Head Coach Kaitlyn Helmbrecht expects the Irish will be strong in all four events – beam, bars, vault and floor.

“We have a lot of experience on our team, and they have all been working hard throughout the offseason,” she said.

Returning from last year’s varsity squad are seniors Abby Gagnon, Brooke Mergen, Eva McClelland, Grace Praska and Olivia LaTour; sophomores Kelsie Jude and Joanna Hall and freshman Addison Kramer.
