Winter fishing perils Traveling on the lakes in Ottertail County has it’s share of hazards with the deep and drifting snow this winter. Even using the plowed roads, like this one on West Battle Lake, travel is nearly impossible once they have drifted in. The lights are from the city of Battle Lake. Because of the conditions, CO Bill Landmark (Pelican Rapids) said in Outdoor News, “Few lakes have angling activity because travel off a plowed road is impossible without a snowmobile or tracked ATV.”
