By Brenda Erdahl: The Maple Lake Volunteer Fire Department held its annual banquet on Saturday, Jan. 29 at the American Legion where several fire fighters were honored for the hard work and dedication and the Fire Fighter of the Year was announced. Fire Chief Steve Peterson opened the award ceremony by recognizing the 2020 Fire Fighter of the Year Kirk Larson who received his award with little pomp at the fire hall last winter because COVID cancelled the banquet.
