Maple Lake Elementary students participated in a create your own ornament contest in honor of the holiday season.
According to Media Specialist Sarah Thomas, students were given the opportunity to create an ornament that looked like a book character. The ornaments were then judged, and prizes awarded to the top three in two age groups.
Thomas received an assortment of colorful and creatively made ornaments based on favorite children’s book characters.
The top finishers in the kindergarten through second grade age group were: in third place, Aurora Knapp (first grade) with The Hungry Caterpillar; in second place, Fin Borgerding (kindergarten) with Sesame Street and in first place, Jack Bauton (kindergarten) with Elmer in the snow.
