Contributed report

According to the Wright County Elections Office, the filing period for the Tuesday, March 14 township elections opened Tuesday,  Jan. 3 and runs through Tuesday, Jan. 17.

A total of 15 Wright County townships will conduct township board elections this year. In Minnesota, most township elections are held on the second Tuesday in March. Some townships have exercised the option of having elections biennially in November and won’t be electing new board members in March. Anyone who files, but later wishes to withdraw has until 5 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 19 to withdraw his or her candidacy.

To file for office, the submission of an affidavit of candidacy is required with your local township clerk. There is a $2 filing fee. Contact your local township clerk for more information and when and where filings will be accepted.
