Kickstands were up by 11 a.m. Saturday for the popular ride that this year included stops at Fat Boyz in New Germany, Thirsty Tavern in Dassel and Pearl Lake Lodge in Kimball. More fun was in store after the ride back at the Maple Lake American Legion where a taco dinner, silent auction, live auction, music, and cash raffles awaited participants.
Speeches and a color guard salute kickstarted the 10th annual Team Huro, No One Fight’s Alone Motorcycle/Car Run, Saturday, Sept. 9 in Maple Lake. The 100 plus vehicles (mostly motorcycles) set out from the Maple Lake American Legion for a 130 to 150-mile ride to raise money for the battle against cancer. The event is in honor of Mike Huro of Maple Lake who died from multiple myeloma cancer in 2018.
Riders enjoy conversation and a beverage at Fat Boyz in New Germany before continuing with their trip. Money raised will go to local scholarships, the Buffalo Hospital Foundation for cancer patients, Hope Lodge and the Angel Foundation. Watch Team Huro’s Facebook site for updates on how much was raised.
