Brute’s Bleat

One amusing comment about how my face looked while it was healing from my Surgery was, “You look like you were in a fight with a grizzly bear,” and I commented if I was I lost!

I heard some shotgun blasting early Wednesday morning coming from south of ML and suspect it was duck hunters. A family of Swans have been feeding in the weeds on Ramsey Lake lately but I haven’t seen very many ducks. Those that are duck hunting were seeing a lot of Wood Ducks which bodes well for that specie inasmuch as they were nearly extinct before Ducks  Unlimited and other conservation groups came to their rescue and built houses for them to nest in. What’s unique about their hatch is when the female duck calls them out of the nests and leads them to water. Those who have had the opportunity to witness this early morning rite of passage are amazed at how well the duckling respond and flutter from the nest to the ground.
