The Irish gymnastics team tacked on another win last week when they defeated conference rival Paynesville 123.85 to 101.4 at home in Maple Lake.
This was the first conference meet of the season for the Irish and the first competition after a long holiday break.
Some of the night’s highlights include Abby Torblaa’s “consistent, clean vault;” Lily O’Donnell’s “great flow” on her bars routine; Claire Lee’s “stuck solid” performance on the beam and Ashley Gaffaney’s success in landing a new skill in her floor event, Coach Kaitlyn Helmbrecht said.
The Irish came away with several top performances including three top place finishes and several runners-up.
Vault
Abby Torblaa finished second with an 8.3; Joanna Hall tied for third with an 8.25; Claire Lee was fifth with an 8.225; O’Donnell finished with an 8.05 and Addison Kramer scored an 8.1.
Bars
O’Donnell won with a 7.225; Kelsi Jude and Kramer tied for second with their 7.15 scores; Torblaa was fourth with a 6.925 and Jacqueline Pribyl was fifth with a 6.7.
Beam
Gaffaney won with a 7.625; Kramer was second with a 7.475; Pribyl was third with a 7.45; Jude finished fourth with a 7.35 and O’Donnell was fifth with a 7.125.
Floor
Jude finished first with an 8.95; O’Donnell was second with a 7.975; Lee was third with a 7.9; Kramer was fourth with a 7.8 and Aurora Zuelke was fifth with a 7.625.
Up next
On Tuesday, Jan. 9, the Irish hosted Dassel-Cokato. Results were not available at press time. On Saturday, Jan. 13 the Irish host an invitational for multiple schools starting at 12 p.m.
Addison Kramer finished runner up with her 7.475 beam performance.
Kelsi Jude finished fourth on the beam with a 7.35.
