
Kenneth Michael Bruns, age 70, of Maple Lake, died May 24, 2024, at the Annandale Care Center surrounded by family.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 3, 2024, at St. Timothy Catholic Church, Maple Lake with Fr. Kevin Magner officiating. Interment will follow at the Columbarium at St. Timothy Catholic Cemetery, Maple Lake. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Sunday and 9-10 a.m. Monday, both at Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Maple Lake. A prayer service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral chapel.
Ken was born January 31, 1954, in Buffalo, MN to Francis and Phyllis (Bongaarts) Bruns. He grew up on the family farm and graduated from Maple Lake High School with the Class of 1972. On February 11, 1973, he was united in marriage to Renee Hoversten at St. Margaret Mary of Golden Valley. They made their home in Maple Lake where they raised their family. Ken worked as the District Custodian at Maple Lake School District 881, retiring in 2014 after 38 dedicated years of service. He was a proud member of the Maple Lake Fire Department and Ambulance Service, retiring after 38 years of serving the local community. Ken enjoyed taking fishing trips up north, meticulously maintaining his yard, home and equipment, keeping his vehicles all shined up, and spending time with his family and friends.
Ken is survived by his wife Renee; children, Amy Wetch of Maple Lake, Jake Bruns of Annandale, and Angie Bruns of Little Falls; grandchildren, Tanner Wetch, Noah Wetch (Lilly Gutknecht), and Makenna Wetch; siblings, Tom Bruns of Rockford, Marilyn (Brian) Vetsch of Monticello, and Tim (LuAnn) Bruns of Maple Lake; sisters-in-law, Mary Hoversten and Pat Hoversten; brother-in-law, Kenny Decker; and other relatives and friends.
Preceded in death by his parents, Francis and Phyllis; brother, Ralph; father-in-law, Raymond Hoversten; mother-in-law, Phyllis Hoversten; sisters-in-law, Cherrie Bruns and Ardis Decker; and brother-in-law, Robert Hoversten.

Urn bearers will be Tanner Wetch, Noah Wetch, and Makenna Wetch, and Lilly Gutknecht. Krista Elsenpeter and Shannon Paumen will provide the music for the service. Arrangements are entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care Burial & Cremation Services of Maple Lake.
