Canoeing was a focus of this Summer’s activities for the Maple Lake Troop 219 scouts. From June 19-26, two crews of eight consisting of 12 youth, ages 14-17 (most were Troop 219 scouts, but three other friends joined as well), plus four adults participating as leaders, completed a challenging 50 plus mile adventure in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness (BWCAW) out of Ely.
They stayed the first night at Packsack Canoe Trips bunkhouse before rising to pack their gear into Duluth packs and proceed into the BWCAW.
