Four candidates are running for two Maple Lake city council seats and two will vie for mayor in the upcoming Nov. 5 general election.
The mayor of Maple Lake is a two-year term position. Running in the 2024 election is incumbent Lynn Kissock and current Council Member John Scott Haack.
The two council seats up for grabs are four-year terms currently held by Wayne Paumen and John Scott Haack. Paumen will be running for reelection. Other candidates are Nathaniel Martin, Kristen Logas and Brian Fondurulia. Jay E. Shields, who originally filed for council, has withdrawn because he will no longer be living within the City of Maple Lake.
Maple Lake Messenger staff presented the candidates with six questions to help the community get to know them better and hear their thoughts on prominent issues. They were asked to keep their responses to 900 words or fewer. Below are their answers.
Remember that vote by mail and in-person absentee voting begins on September 20.
