Last month, Maple Lake Superintendent Mike Rowe and the school board asked families if there was any interest in transitioning Maple Lake schools to a four-day school week. A survey was sent out and results showed 60% of elementary school families and 80% of high school families were interested in exploring the idea. Staff had a similarly positive response.
On Monday, Oct. 28, the school district held a public hearing/listening session that was well attended. Organizers counted 110 in-person attendees and 41 who attended virtually. For an hour they discussed the pros and cons of switching to a four-day week and Supt. Rowe answered many questions.
