The Maple Lake boys basketball team fell to a senior-dominated Swanville, Tuesday, Dec. 3 in their first game of the season, but played Long Prairie-Gray Eagle closer on Friday, Dec. 6.

Tuesday’s game was the first ever varsity contest for three of the Irish squad – George Riviere (9th grade), Elijah Schwab (10th grade) and Aidan Barberg (11th grade).  Despite some inexperience against a strong and capable Swanville, Irish coaches were pleased with how their team managed to move the ball and keep “great” pacing. This led to the Irish capitalizing on 11 of 34 three-point attempts.

By the break, the Irish were down 56-32. The second half saw them outscored 44-32.
