Irish gymnasts fall short

By Brenda Erdahl

Short numbered and young, the Maple Lake gymnastics team suffered a 133.625 to 114.45 loss in its first outing of the season, Tuesday, Dec. 3, when it faced Benson at home.

“First meets are always tough, and this one was no exception. With a small team to begin with and then two gymnasts with injuries our young team had to step up on the first meet of the season,” Irish Head Coach Kaitlyn Helmbrecht said.

Despite the challenges, Coach Helmbrecht said: “We know what needs to be done and have set some great individual and team goals.”
