Playground gets big boost Community contributes to special needs play area

The Maple Lake School District’s efforts to build a special needs play area as part of the elementary school’s new playground project just got a big boost.

In November the Maple Lake School Board approved replacing MLE’s old Centennial Playground with modern-day equipment that will cost less to maintain, be safer for the children playing on it and more inclusive for students with special needs.

The purchase of two large play structures was approved at a cost of $261,000 to be paid for with Building Capital funds and a $35,000 donation from the local PTA.
