Alex M. Olson, age 22, of Princeton, died unexpectedly on Sunday, January 5, 2025, in Mountain Iron, Minnesota.

A Gathering in Celebration of the Life of Alex will be held from 4-6 p.m. with a Service at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 16, 2025, at Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Annandale. Pastor Laurie Hrkal will officiate.

Alex Michael Olson was born on June 12, 2002, in Buffalo, Minnesota, the son of Sabrina Becker and David Olson. Alex’s early years were spent in the Annandale and Elk River area, where he embraced the beauty of the outdoors with a passionate heart. He grew into a young man who found his calling as a deep-sea fisherman in Alaska, working with Silver Bay out of Dutch Harbor. This challenging vocation was more than just a job for Alex; it was an expression of his profound love for nature and the thrill of adventure that came with fishing, hunting, and trapping. He often found solace in the expansive ocean and the rugged landscapes, a testament to his enduring spirit and connection to the wild. He loved the thrill of a successful catch.

Alex is survived by his mother, Sabrina Atkinson of Princeton; father, David (Ashley) Olson of Annandale; siblings, Graci Schultz, MaKayla Atkinson, Andrew Olson, Sawyer Olson, Noah Olson, and Brynnleigh Atkinson; grandparents, David (Joan) Becker, Lisa Becker, and Dave Olson; aunt and uncle, Jaden and Aleah Becker; and many cousins, other relatives, and friends. He was preceded in death by his great-grandmother, Lucille Nyhammer.
