
Shirley Jean Engelman, age 86, loving mother, grandmother, neighbor and friend passed away on Saturday, March 22nd, 2025.
She was born on January 22nd, 1939 in Maple Lake to Emery & Mabel (Wandersee) Jewett. She was a lifetime farm girl starting with her dad at the age of three. She grew up attending Maple Lake School, where she won many spelling bees.
On January 12, 1957, Shirley Jean Jewett and Harvey Carl Engelman were joined in holy marriage at Zion Lutheran Church in Annandale by Pastor Kurzweg. God blessed them with 59 years of marriage and four children.
Shirley and Harvey worked side by side on their farm near Annandale. She milked cows and raised many animals. Shirleys favorite was her sheep. She worked very hard and loved everyone. She could do everything from the farm to the supper table. Was an amazing host for guests with her delicious homemade meals. Known for her incredible desserts as well. She tended to large gardens of geraniums, flowers and vegetables. A lover of wildlife, she enjoyed birdwatching, looking for deer and fishing. A woman of many skills such as canning, making clothes, backing trailers and running the road grater.
Also, she would work the polls for Albion Township and organized cards at Hallmark
She belonged to Zion Lutheran Church in Annandale where she volunteered for many events. She enjoyed bluegrass, gospel and country music. Above all, Shirley lived her life through her faith. She loved Jesus!
Survived by a son: Russ (Deb) Engelman; daughters: Sandra Lambrecht, Evelyn (Ron) Otto and Rosie Pribyl; grandchildren: Angie (Greg), Melissa (Paul), Eric (Tammy), Justin (Priscilla), James (Krissy), Ryan (Courtney), Jake (Liz), Josh, Joe, Justin and Anne; great grandchildren: Haley, Brooke, Noah, Isaac, Ezra, Breanna, Maggie, Emma Jean, Ryder, Allyssa, Jameson, Emerson, Casey, Peityn, Carson, Kaedin, Jordan, Wyatt and Chase; great, great grandchildren: Oakley and Knox; brothers: Charles “Chuck” and Larry (Sheila) Jewett; a sister: Eleanor Marschel; her little dog: Tucker; many other family and friends.
Preceded in death by her husband Harvey C. Engelman on March 5, 2016, sons-in-law Jon Lambrecht and Morrie Pribyl, by her parents, and by brother Ralph Jewett.
Funeral Services for Shirley Engelman will be held on Thursday, March 27, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. at Zion Lutheran Church in Annandale. Pastor Ken Tatkenhorst will officiate.
Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Annandale.
A visitation will be held AT THE CHURCH on Thursday, March 27th from 9:00 A.M. until time of services.
Casket Bearers will be Eric Clausen, Justin Engelman, James Otto, Ryan Clausen, Justin Otto, Jake Otto, Josh Pribyl and Joe Pribyl.
Honorary Bearers will be Tom Spike and Matt Spike.
