Wearing authentic supplies and gear, German soldier reenactors hid in trees, and American and allied soldier reenactors came across the field.
This was a sight witnessed at last year’s weekend World War II reenactment at Pioneer Park in Annandale. It was an experience Pioneer Park President Jen Filek described as moving.
“The noise of the gun going off just brought tears to people’s eyes,” Filek said, “because you know the outcome (or) you know a relative that was a veteran.”
At this Armed Forces event and WWII reenactment, each side had its own camp and were good to talk about and show their supplies with visitors. Clothing was displayed in the church building. During this weekend event, on Saturday, Pioneer Park served a meal, and on Sunday, a pancake breakfast.
