Temporary compost and recycling site

By Wright County         Communications

The Wright County Compost and Recycling Facility, located at 505 County Road 37 NE, Buffalo, will be closed to the public starting April 18 due to construction activities on the site. Limited operations will resume April 29 at a temporary location at 5538 85th St. NW, Maple Lake, until construction activities are complete.

Hours of operation at the temporary site in Maple Lake for household hazardous waste/yard waste drop-off site will be 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays and 8 a.m. to noon on the second and third Saturdays of the month.

During this transition and construction period, some services will not be available. These services may change as space at the temporary location becomes available. Effective April 29, when operations resume at the temporary location, acceptable items will include household hazardous waste (paints, stains, and chemicals), curbside recycling, sharps, and yard waste. Additionally, starting April 29 and until further notice, appointments will not be required.

At this time, the following items will not be accepted: tires, scrap metal, appliances, electronics, batteries, styrofoam, TVs, and large size or quantities of cardboard. As we work through this transition, we will resume collection of some of these items.
