Danny Leroy Muller, age 67, of Independence, Kansas, died Thursday, Feb. 23, 2012, at his residence in Independence.
A celebration of life service was held at 2 p.m., Feb. 27, at Potts Chapel in Independence with Pastor Phil Adams officiating. Interment followed at the Mt. Hope Cemetery in Independence. Friends may leave online messages at www.pottsfuneralhome.com.
Danny was born Feb. 25, 1944, in Independence, to Kenny and Mattie (Botts) Muller. He graduated from  Independence High School and served in the United States Army as a sergeant during the war in Vietnam from December 12, 1962, until he was honorably discharged on Nov. 23, 1964. He received a medal in marksmanship. He married T. Lumley on Aug. 3, 1970, in Independence. They later divorced. He married Anne Wilson in Independence on Aug. 17, 1989. He worked for the Independence Fire Department and later for Universal Atlas Heartland Cement Company for 25 years, retiring in 2010. He was a member of the Church of the Brethren, United States Steel and Carnegie Union, a lifetime member of the Independence American Legion Post #139, serving as vice commander. He was also a lifetime member of the VFW Post #1186.
Survived by his wife, Anne; two sons, Johnny Muller of Parsons, KS and Keith Muller and wife, Cathy, of Sycamore, KS; one step-son, Brandon Colyott of Columbia, MO; daughter, Cristy Holmes and husband, Tony, of Independence, KS; one step-daughter, Breanna Nelson and husband, Tyler, of Charleston, SC; brothers, David Muller and wife, Ruth, of Mesa, AZ and Joe Muller and wife, Paula, of Maple Lake, MN; sister, Kim Jordan and companion, Kenny Henson, of Independence, KS; six grandchildren, Kaylee Muller, Kellie Muller, Dalton Holmes, Nicholas Colyott, Matthew Colyott and Zane Nelson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Laurie Muller, formerly of Maple Lake.
Arrangements were under the care of Potts Chapel of Independence, Kansas.
