A light rain and the distant rumble of thunder on Saturday weren’t enough to delay the 7 a.m. start of the annual Christopher Schneider Bass Fishing Tourney on Maple Lake. Later on that morning, the weather cleared and made for a great day of fishing at the tournament that serves as a memorial to Christopher Schneider, who died during his junior year at Maple Lake High School in 2003. Since that time, the tournament, organized by Christopher’s parents, Barb and Bob Schneider, raises funds to provide scholarships for seniors at MLHS.
