High schoolers return to full, in-person learning next week

By Brenda Erdahl

For the first time since March, all kindergarten through 12th grade Maple Lake students will be back in the classroom next week. It’s a prospect that both staff and students are excited about.

“I can just feel the excitement in the building,” said Maple Lake Public Schools Superintendent Mike Rowe.

January saw a significant decrease in the Maple Lake Community COVID cases which puts the school district in a good position to return to in-school learning, Rowe said. In addition to lower case numbers, some school district staff have already received their vaccinations and others hope to have them in the next couple weeks.

“We have some staff who have already been vaccinated and others are on the state’s waiting list. Between this week and the next we expect to have most of our staff, who want it, vaccinated,” Rowe said.
