Seventh grader impresses at Big Bang science fair

By Brenda Erdahl

It was pretty big deal at St. Timothy Catholic School in Maple Lake when sixth grader Bridget Donnett won the saint award for medicine at the Big Bang Catholic STEM Fair last spring with her project “The immune system, we owe it our lives.”

The project not only impressed judges, it served as a reminder during the initial weeks of the COVID-19 pandemic just how valuable our immune system is.

It was COVID-19 that inspired Donnett’s project this year that wowed judges even more. The St. Timothy seventh grader surpassed all expectation when she took home the top-most honor with her project “The blood clot plot,” at the Catholic Schools Center of Excellence’s fourth annual competition.
