Numerous Irish advanced to the Section 5A Track and Field Meet at St. John’s University Wednesday, June 9 after top performances at subsections the previous week.
To go on, individual athletes had to place among the top four finishers and relay teams had to either win the race or be runner-up. Sections at SJU will determine who goes on to compete at state.
“Overall, most of the kids we thought would advance did,” Head Irish Coach Ben Youngs said. “It was strange to have this meet after the school year was done, and it did seem to affect our kids and our performances. Some were solid, some were a little flat.”
