The Minnesota sports scene looked pretty dismal over the weekend with the Gophers losing to Northwestern described by some as Ugly, The Ugly & The Ugly. Coach Fleck and the Minnesota Golden Gophers were hammered Saturday’s 37-34 overtime loss to the interim coach-led Northwestern Wildcats is one of the worst losses so far this year.
The Vikings should have won their game with the Los Angeles Chargers Sunday, but that didn’t happen when the Chargers pulled out a 28-24 victory sealed by late pick in end zone. The Minnesota Vikings again lacked the late-game mojo of last year. Now they are 0-3 and when that happens to a team, they seldom get into the playoffs.
The Minnesota Twins brought a whole lot of joy to mudville Friday night when they clinched a division title 8-6 in their game with the Los Angeles Angels. Fans we’re exuberant as the ninth inning was played out and the Twins celebrated with their families on the diamond before going to their quarters for the usual bath of champagne. and a whole lot of well-wishing to each other in the playoffs. You can find Minnesota Twins tickets for as low as $8, with an average price of $70 and up.
Going to the Wild Card playoffs would be a great way to cheer on the Twins. Wild Card games to be played at Target Field will be October 3rd through 5th. The Homer Hankies features the words “We Believe,” and will be given to each fan that enters Target Field for every Twins home game during the postseason or can be bought for $4 at the Twins New Era Team store at Target Field. A portion of the proceeds from each sale will go to the Minnesota Twins Community Fund.
