The rain held off and the balmy weather drew crowds of people to the 70th annual St. Timothy Fall Festival, Sunday, Sept. 24, where they found fellowship, food, games and $3,750 in cash prizes to be given away.
This year’s big winner was Marcella Schaufler of Maple Lake who bought the winning ticket for the $1,500 grand prize. Rosealice Hayes won the second place, $500 prize and Mary Lefebvre, Adele Leary and Nic Stai each won $250 prizes.
Ten $100 prizes were also given away to Sharon Helmbrecht, Mike Shaughnessy, Judy Paumen, Joe and Mary Ackerman, Jason Carlson, Brenda Fobbe, Mary K. Scheiber, John and Susie Peterson, Chris Borgert, Bob & Maria Metz.
The V by HH catered a pasta bar that drew a couple hundred hungry festival goers to the St. Timothy School cafeteria and the Knights of Columbus (KC) sold plenty of hamburgers, French fries, and hotdogs at their stand. Numerous creatively, and artistically made baskets of chance were donated for folks to try their hand at winning, and a variety of handcrafted, homemade, and homegrown goodies were for sale at the Country Store.
Kids enjoyed a selection of games, a candy and homemade kettle corn stand, face painting and the humorous antics of local clowns. Young and not-so-young all enjoyed the cake walk and bottle blast. Joseph and the Mechanics, a one-man band from the metro, performed classic rock, popular and contemporary Christian music that the audience said was easy to listen to and enjoy.
“It was so much fun. We had wonderful weather, it was such a beautiful fall day,” Co-Chair Patty Pawelk said.
