The Irish volleyball team is off to a promising start with a 3-4 record and some exciting wins under their belt including a 3-0 victory over Litchfield, Tuesday, Sept. 5 that had a good-sized Maple Lake crowd loud and on its feet.
After defeating the Dragons 25-14 the first game, the Irish came back from a deficit in a back-and-forth battle that had the home crowd on its feet to win an exciting second game 27-25. A somewhat deflated Litchfield team then fell 25-19 in the third game to solidify the Maple Lake victory.
The Irish was on the other side of another close match Thursday, Sept. 7 at Paynesville that ended in a 0-3 loss for the Maple Lake team. Game scores were 25-27, 15-25 and 23-25.

Avery Lee was eight for eight serving with two aces, eight kills, 15 assists and four digs; Alex Kiebel was 10 for 12 serving with three aces, 15 kills nine assists and six digs; Sydney Breimon was 10 for 11 serving with two kills and seven digs; Grace Ronnenberg was two for two serving with two aces and two kills; Danica Hageman was 11 for 14 serving with five aces and one kill; Ava Knutson was five for seven serving with four digs; Addison Kramer had two kills, Abby Linder had two kills and one dig; Eliana Fuller was 14 for 14 serving with three aces, four assists and 23 digs.
