This was the Vikings first win, 21-13 over the Panthers  after going 0-3 and they played the Kansas City Chiefs Sun., Oct. 8 starting at 3:25 p.m. Somehow I erred in last week’s column saying the Vikings were 4-5. The Vikings played uphill and built a 13-10 lead before halftime, but Kansas City tied the game at the break and controlled the third quarter eventually winning 27-20. The Chiefs sacked Cousins in  the finals minutes to avoid a tie so the Vikings standings are 1-4 after Sunday’s game.,

The Astros won an American League Division Series first game at home, beating the Twins, 6-4, in Game 1 on Saturday. On Sunday the Twins evened things up with a 6-2 win over the Astros. The next game was Tuesday night at the Twins ballpark which will be followed by a game in Minneapolis on Wednesday. If necessary the fifth game will be played in Houston. The Twins tried to make a comeback in their first game with Houston, but spotting them 5 runs was too much for the Twins sluggers to overcome. You can bet the Twins fans will be on hand as loud as ever this week.

For some unknown reason the Gopher game came in on my Antenna TV on Channel 4 so I had the opportunity to watch No. 2 Michigan dominate Minnesota on the road as they win the Big Ten matchup, 52-10. J.J. McCarthy threw for 219 yards. Gopher quarterback,  Kaliakmanis had a rough game, finishing 5-for-16 for 52 yards, with the two interception returns going for 64 yards.
