Businesses spread local cheer

By Brenda Erdahl

Tis the season for giving and Cedar Lake Engineering knows how to do it right.

Last week a delivery truck bearing gifts of doubled smoked hams and cheesy potatoes arrived at the Maple Lake business just in time for the holidays. All 78 employees received a meal made by Doug Lindenfelser and his staff at The Butchery of Maple Lake to bring home to their families.

Cedar Lake Engineering President Tom Paumen and his business partner and brother Chad are always looking for ways to provide little extras to their employees, Tom said. For the last several years now, they have been giving turkeys at Thanksgiving and hams at Christmas.

“This is just part of the holiday spirit in addition to our Holiday Party we host just before Christmas. “We hope that they enjoy our holiday offerings,” Tom said.

By going through the local Butchery for his holiday gifts, Tom is also being generous to the local business community by shopping local. Cedar Lake Engineering has purchased food from The Butchery of Maple Lake for the last few years and they plan to continue to do business with them when the holidays roll around again.

“Doug is always good to work with. Like many of our local business owners, for Chad and I, it feels special working with another local business,” Tom said.

Staff at Cedar Lake Engineering were happy to accept the food as an early Christmas present from their employer.
