Irish gymnastics team wins big in first outing

The Maple Lake gymnastics team got off to a promising start with a 112.35 to 107.675 win over Litchfield, Tuesday, Dec. 5 in Litchfield.

The evening included four first place Irish finishes and several more runner ups.

Vault

The Irish swept the vault by claiming the top five finishes. Lily O’Donnell won with her 8.5; Cloie Peterson was second with an 8.475; Jacqueline Pribyl was third with an 8.4; Abby Torblaa was fourth with an 8.375 and Addison Kramer was fifth with an 8.2.

Bars

Pribyl won the bars with a score of 7.75; O’Donnell was second with a 7.675 and Addison Kramer was third with a 7.25. Other finishers were Joanna Hall with a 5.8 and Abby Torblaa with a 5.7.

Beam

Ashley Gaffaney claimed first place on the beam with a score of 7.9; Kramer was second with a 7.75 and O’Donnell was fifth with a 7.15. Other finishers were Torblaa with a 6.95 and Pribyl with a 6.725.

Floor

Kramer won the floor exercise by earning an 8.15 from judges for her routine. Pribyl was second with a 7.55; Torblaa was fourth with a 7.35 and O’Donnell tied for fifth with a 7.325. Gaffaney finished with a 7.25.

The Irish traveled to Buffalo for a 6 p.m. meet on Tuesday, Dec. 12. Results were not available at press time.

Up next

On Monday, Dec. 18, the Irish host Annandale for a 6 p.m. competition. On Thursday, Dec. 21, the Irish host Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted for another 6 p.m. matchup.
