The attempted assassination of former president Donald Trump at a political rally in Pennsylvania fortunately was not successful when the shot nicked his right ear. The shooter was taken out by a Secret Serviceman and Trump was immediately taken out of harms way. The rest of the incident refers to bystanders at the rally. One was a fireman who was killed and two others attending the rally were wounded.
In the history of assassinations there have been four presidents killed which doesn’t say a lot for a method to settle something politically. You can bet there will be an investigation trying to find a motive for the killing, which could take time which probably doesn’t bode well considering both parties will be holding their national conventions, the GOP in Milwaukee now and the Democrats later this summer. Present president Joe Biden is trying to keep his ratings up even though some members of his own party are asking him to step down. Not wanting to kind of reminds me of the prime athlete who can’t quite cut it any longer, but refuses to throw in the towel.

The weekend storm in this part of the county was mostly rain which we didn’t need, but was better than the hail which did a fair amount of damage in the Monticello and Big Lake areas. One TV personality was showing how large some of the hail was in Monticello comparing it to a baseball. The following morning a different TV station reported the hail being as large as a softball, which is quite a difference lb size. Hail storms, if they last very long, can do a ton of damage not only to farm crops, but to vehicles in car lots, windows in buildings, shingles on roofs or even the roof itself, and some cases to farm animals and also wildlife. We reported and incident where a young deer was killed by hail north of Maple Lake a number of years ago.
