
John J. Becker, age 88, of Maple Lake, died on Friday, July 26, 2024, surrounded by his family.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 1, 2024, at St. Timothy Catholic Church, Maple Lake with Fr. Kevin Magner as Celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Timothy Catholic Cemetery, east Maple Lake. Visitation will be held from 9:00-10:30 a.m. prior to service at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Maple Lake.
John Joseph Becker was born on October 5, 1935, in Eden Valley, Minnesota to John V. and Katherine (Hennen) Becker. He grew up in Eden Valley, where he graduated from high school in 1954. John served his country with honor in the United States Army until his honorable discharge in 1957. On August 8, 1959, John was united in marriage to Jean L. Backes in Cold Spring. They resided in the Minneapolis area, before making Maple Lake their home, where they raised their seven children. John had a successful career as a supervisor, working diligently for Honeywell for 33 years.
Beyond his professional endeavors, John was a man of numerous passions. He was a member of the Maple Lake Lions Club. He enjoyed spending time playing horseshoes, hunting, and fishing, finding solace and enjoyment in nature. As a gardener, John took pride in cultivating his flowers, vegetables, and apple orchard. He took joy in a good read when relaxing at home and cheering for the Minnesota Twins.
John is survived by his children, John (Elham) of Broomfield, CO, Dave (Joan) of Maple Lake, Doug (Diane) of Lafayette, TN, Steve (Laura) Silver Creek, Troy (Barb) Maple Lake, Tammy (Rick) of Maple Lake, and Ken of Monticello; daughter-in-laws, Carol (Roger) of Silver Creek, and Sandy (Jim) of Buffalo; 14 grandchildren, Aleah Becker, Sabrina Becker, Jaden Becker, Hannah Jude, Joel Becker, Ashley Brinkmann, Austin Becker, Anna Becker, Lindsey Farnick, Dan Becker, Amanda Reinschmidt, Megan Schaust, Rachel Caylor, and Sam Schaust; 23 great-grandchildren with 1 on the way; sister-in-laws, JoAnn Becker, Rosemary Becker, Marcy Backes, Mary Backes, and Bernie Backes; brother -in-law, Ed Cotter; and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean; parents, John and Katherine; and 11 siblings.
Joel Becker, Dan Becker, Sam Schaust, Austin Becker, and Jaden Becker will serve as urn bearers. Arrangements are entrusted with Dingmann Funeral Care Burial and Cremation Services of Maple Lake.
