Kevin Magner will be the Celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Charles Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to St Timothy’s Catholic School.

Birdie was born on March 14, 1935, in Jordan, Minnesota to Anna (Pieper) and Frank Schaufler. In 1940, the Schauflers moved to Maple Lake and established the family farm. This is where Birdie grew up and resided his entire life. After graduating high school, he married Marcella Paumen on October 16, 1954, at St. Timothy Catholic Church. Once married, they worked hard and continually expanded the farm while raising their five children.

There was always a steady stream of friends, neighbors, and extended family, young and old, stopping by the farm to visit with Birdie. In the summer, these visits took place on the front deck on the furniture Birdie painted John Deere green. He always had stories to share along with a cold beer. Some of the stories he shared were about the days he hosted get togethers at his Ramsey Point establishment.

As the former lefthanded pitcher for the team, Birdie thoroughly enjoyed attending Laker games and watching all types of sports on TV. Other favorite pastimes were cruising around on the Gator, spear fishing, horseshoes, and restoring antique tractors. He loved animals, especially his cat, Midnight, and his dog, Sam.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Marcy; children, Jeanette (Bruce) of Maple Lake, Bev (Lonnie) of Kimball, Barb (Troy) of Maple Lake, and Steve of Maple Lake; 14 grandchildren, Corey Paulson, Chris Paulson, Valarie Schwinghammer, Joe Hendricks, Eric Hendricks, Kari Schaufler, Amanda Gerads, Ryan Schaufler, Christina Hood Beckman, Lindsey Farnick, Danny Becker, Isabelle Schaufler, Ben Poirier, and Brynn (bonus grandchild); 23 great-grandchildren, Emily Paulson, Kennadie Paulson, Levi Paulson, Makayla Swinghammer, Noah Swinghammer, Cody Hendricks, Gracie Hendricks, Frances Schaufler, Louis Schaufler, Astella Gerads, Addilyn Gerads, Waylon Schaufler, Colton Schaufler, Charlie Hood Beckman (on the way), Matthew Farnick, George Farnick, Ellie Farnick, Owen Becker, Nora Becker, Hudson Hendricks, Emmett Eiynk, Brynn Eiynk, Matilda Eiynk, and Clayton Eiynk; and many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, other relatives and friends.
