Irish basketball falls to ACGC and Holdingford

The Maple Lake boys basketball team went on the road to face Atwater-Cosmos Grove City early last week and fell 82-53 to the Central Minnesota Conference team. Later in the week the Irish hosted Holdingford, another CMC opponent, and lost 93-50.

The Irish started strong Tuesday, Dec. 17, keeping up and frustrating their ACGC opponent, Irish Head Coach Bryan Schleif said. But the Falcons pulled away late in the first half and didn’t look back. It didn’t help that the Irish fell into foul trouble early.

Bowen Walton led scoring for Maple Lake with 22 points and George Riviere had 17.

“Riviere played an outstanding game and posted a career high in a short career so far with 17. George has been our most consistent outside threat this season, he also was active on the glass with eight rebounds,” Coach Schleif said.
