Legacy Christian topples Maple Lake 60-42

By Brenda Erdahl

The Maple Lake girls’ basketball team got down early against the larger Class 2A Legacy Christian last week and couldn’t make up enough ground to get the win, falling 60-42.

The Irish traveled to Legacy Christian High School on Tuesday, December 17 for what would be their only game of the week. The Irish were scheduled to go to Paynesville on Thursday, Dec. 19 but the game was postponed due to the snowstorm. That game has been rescheduled to Friday, Jan. 24.

The Irish found themselves in a 18-4 hole early. With a mix of solid defense and converting shots they were able to cut their opponent’s lead, to nine with about four minutes to play before the break. That’s when Legacy Christian went on a 12-0 run to build their half-time lead to 37-16.
