Home-school students invited to D.A.R.E.

Contributed report

The Wright County Sheriff’s Office is seeking home-schooled students to join its D.A.R.E. program in Wright County.

D.A.R.E. is a unique offering, and officials want to extend this important program to all students. The program will be offered at the Wright County Sheriff’s Office this spring.

The D.A.R.E. curriculum is the largest, most comprehensive science and evidence-based K-12 prevention education curriculum in the world. This curriculum is taught in thousands of classrooms throughout America’s 50 states and 29 other countries.

The 5th and 6th-grade D.A.R.E. program consists of 10 (one hour) lessons and a D.A.R.E. graduation. After the 10 lessons are taught, the 5th and 6th-grade students will have gained knowledge and skills on how to say no to alcohol and tobacco in addition to helping them make safe and responsible decisions throughout their life.
