While other sports were cancelled the week of April 1st due to weather, the Irish track and field team ran on.
The Rockford meet was postponed from Thursday, April 3 to Friday, April 4th with the hopes of warmer temps, but it wasn’t to be. The meet started at 45 degrees and ended at 37 degrees, not great temperatures for improving times, Coach Ben Youngs said. Although no official times were kept, this was the first event this season that saw the Irish’s entire team on the track and they showed some great signs of things to come, Youngs said. Among them was freshman Willima Martin’s first place finish in the 110-meter hurdles.
