Moose wrap up regular season

The Monticello-Maple Lake Moose defeated Princeton, 5-2 on Tuesday, Feb. 11 at the Princeton Ice Arena to boost their record to 17-6-1 overall.

Princeton started scoring early in the first period with a goal by Dylan Cook and held a one-goal lead through much of the first period. Gunnar Sibley got things going for the Moose with a goal at 11:11 of the first period with an assist by Huntley Hinz.

Wilson Dahlheimer put the Moose ahead with a goal early in the second. Jeffrey Henrikson and Jacob Pederson had the assists. Brian Cornelius scored again for the Moose late in the second with help from Henrikson to give the Moose a 3-0 lead.

Princeton came back for a final goal at 6:42 of the third. Monticello scored two more to secure the win. Dahlheimer scored both third period goals with assists coming from Gavin Brooks and Gunnar Sibley on the first.

The Moose outshot Princeton 38-37. Monticello goalie stopped 35 of 37 shots on goal.

The Moose were scheduled to compete again on Saturday, Feb. 15. See results of that game in the Feb. 26 paper.

The Moose kick off the section tournament on Feb. 18 with games on the 20th, 22nd and 27th. The Moose are currently ranked 11th among Minnesota Class A schools.
