Book Fair is a best seller at Maple Lake Elementary

By Brenda Erdahl

This year’s book fair went amazing, Maple Lake Elementary Media Specialist Sarah Thomas said. “Our goal was $5,000. Last year we beat that goal by making over $8,000. This year we did the best we have ever done! We did over $10,000 in sales. This was our biggest book fair yet!”

In addition, MLE collected over $200 to help purchase books for kids who can’t afford them.

“I also had amazing volunteers that helped make this a huge success. They were all so great with the students, helping them find the right books to making sure they had everything they needed,” Thomas said.

Scholastic will give Maple Lake Elementary half of their sales back in scholastic dollars and MLE will put that money towards books for the library, books for student of the month, books for teachers classrooms and prizes for the Elementary Irish Pride Store, Thomas said.

“I would like to thank the community, teachers, volunteers and students for making this the best book fair yet,” she said.

Maple Lake Elementary School invited young readers to its annual Book Fair fundraiser Oct. 12-18. Funds raised will help purchase books for the media center. Above, Paisley Salveson shops at a table dedicated to dinosaurs.

Families, faculty, and the community were invited to attend and help inspire children to become lifelong readers.
