Runners face tough competition at Litchfield

The Irish cross country team made the long trip up to Hinckley-Finlayson early last week to preview the new site of the Section 5A race.

The runners were told to treat the race it as a tempo training run to learn the course and times and finishes reflected that approach.

Nick Lind led the boys team with a time of 21:04.10 for 91st place. Close behind him in 92nd was Pablo Manzanedo in 21:04.50. Logan Anglin finished in 96th with a time of 21:13.00; Hayden Dircks was 110th in 22:09.00; Blake Stoeber was 113th in 23:01.10; Ben Ogram was 114th in 23:12.10 and Tristin Stoeber was 117th in 25:07.70.

Lauren Anglin led the girls with a time of 23:03.80 for 41st place; Carmyn Anderson was 51st in 23:19.70; Abby Gindele was 104th in 28:20.80; Jackie Pribyl was 105th in 28:21.50; Khloe Uecker was 106th in 28:22.80; Peyton Walberg was 107th in 28:25.10 and Claire Meyer was 108th in 28:34.10.

The Irish will head up north again on Thursday, Oct 26 for sections where they will be looking to qualify some athletes for state.

The Irish competed with gusto again on Thursday, Oct. 5 at Litchfield. This was also the culmination of the elementary Run Like the Wind program where elementary aged runners practice with the high school team then races with them at an official high school cross country meet.
