Lantien Family Spa to open

By Brenda Erdahl

Maple Lake’s eclectic downtown will soon enjoy the business of another unique entrepreneur. Lisa Yang and her husband Robert Jerome aim to open Lantien Family Spa in time for the St. Patrick’s Day Festival.  The couple has rented 57 Birch Avenue South which until last fall housed Sunfish Dental and before that was inhabited for many years by Dr. Dennis Quinlan DDS.

Yang, who has more than 12 years of experience as a masseuse, will offer pedicure services and back and foot massages to start with the potential for other services such as hot rocks and aromatherapy.

The couple has lived most of their married life in the Burnsville area and currently reside in New Hope, Jerome said. Yang owned a spa previously for 10 years and before that worked as a masseuse at a shopping mall. She is currently a parttime masseuse at a Minnetonka spa and chiropractor office. According to Jerome, the couple had been searching for a new location to go into business for themselves again, but with little luck. Their search led them to Maple Lake. They were not only attracted to the location on Birch Avenue, but also to their landlord Tricia Manuel who they said has been extremely helpful and patient with Yang who still struggles with the language.

According to Yang, Lantien means Blue Sky in Chinese and like a calm blue sky, Lantien Family Spa will aim to relieve stress and put at ease their guests’ physical body whether that is through a warm foot bath before a pedicure or a back massage. Yang is proficient in several types of massage including Swedish, deep-tissue and some reflexology.

The couple has been working hard to make the store ready for an open house on Friday, March 15th. All are invited to come and meet Yang, learn more about her services and enjoy some snacks. Yang plans to be open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. weekdays and on weekends. For more information or to set up an appointment, call Lisa at 763-336-4977.
