The Maple Lake High School trap team has two competition weeks under their belts and are currently ranked second out of nine teams in 1A-Conference 9. According to Head Coach Brad Neutz, Maple Lake has a solid hold on second place with a score of 917.50 but hope to pull closer to leader Richfield High School – Academy of Holy Angels who is currently sitting at 1,124.50. In third, with a tally of 820.00 is Hope Lutheran. “The newer shooters are picking up the load and improving their game each week.  It’s fun to watch their progress,” Neutz said.  Like other spring sports teams, the Irish trap shooters have had to battle some not-so-nice weather, but they are struggling through it.

“It’s been an interesting season for shooting.  We’ve dealt with a lot of windy conditions, but the kids have been able to adjust and shoot a little quicker to find their targets,” Neutz said.  The Irish shoot every Thursday after school at the Monticello Sportsman’s Club.
