The Maple Lake Lakers missed their chance at number one ranked Loretto on Saturday, June 15 due to rain but a lot happened around the North Star League. The Larks sit at 5-0, the only perfect team left. Hutchinson, Buffalo, and Delano are ahead of the fifth-place Lakers, who are 3-2 in NSL play. The NSL season is only about a third of the way through and there are eight teams within three games of first so every game counts!

Hutchinson 5, Maple Lake 2

The Hutchinson Huskies got the nice weather day on Sunday, June 16 for their 1 p.m. visit to Laker Stadium. The Huskies made themselves at home, picking up the first run of the game in the third. Brock Goelz singled and was driven in by Hunter Malachek to level the score in the bottom of the inning. Hutchinson went off in the fourth for four straight runs but a dramatic play at home got the hosts out of the inning. Maple Lake threatened in the fifth and did get one back in the eighth when Ben Goelz drove in Greg Giebenhain, who was pinch running for catcher Matt Bergstrom. The Lakers managed six hits and eight walks against only three strikeouts but just could not string enough of them together.
