A Maple Lake man was killed Sunday night, July 28 when his bicycle collided with an SUV on Highway 55 in Maple Lake Township.
According to the Minnesota State Patrol, Jaxon Andrew Zuelke, age 21 of Maple Lake was riding his bicycle west on Highway 55 near Dempsey Ave NW around 9:20 p.m. when he was struck by a Jeep Cherokee heading in the same direction. The Jeep was driven by Jesse Wayne Snyder, age 39 of Howard Lake. Deputies reported CPR was started on Zuelke who was later pronounced dead at the scene.
A memorial fund has been started for Zuelke’s family at www.spotfund.com to cover memorial expenses. According to the memorial site, Zuelke was riding his electric bike home from a friend’s house when he was hit from behind. It had stormed that night and deputies reported road conditions were wet.
The report stated it was unknown if alcohol was involved.
The State Patrol, Wright County Sherriff’s Office, Maple Lake Fire Department and Allina Ambulance responded to the scene. Snyder was not injured in the crash.
