Irish girls notch a big win at Target Center

Maple Lake’s girls’ basketball team had an exciting winter break. On Monday, Dec. 30, they not only got to play at Target Center, home of NBA’s Minnesota Timberwolves, and four-time WNBA world champion Minnesota Lynx, they defeated their opponent, North Lakes, 61-13.

This was the first time the Irish girls have played at Target Center – the boys’ team had a game there last year over winter break. Coaches, players and parents said it was a fun experience made better by a big win like a cherry on top.

“Playing at the Target sounded like a good idea early in the season, but it was even better knowing it would lead to a lifelong basketball memory.  It was such a large and fun space to play in. The girls and coaches really enjoyed the experience,” Irish Head Coach Adam Ronnenberg said.
