Irish win at Paynesville, finish fifth at Tumble

After a long winter break, the Maple Lake gymnastics team got back into the swing of things with a 116.450 to 114.950 win over Paynesville on Tuesday, Jan. 7.

On Saturday, Jan. 11, the Irish competed its annual Tumble in the Jungle invitational and finished fifth out of eight teams.

Paynesville’s meet was a good meet to “get back out there” at after the break, Irish Head Coach Kaitlyn Helmbrecht said. “The girls performed well.”

Avery Como led on the vault for the Irish with an 8.2; Jacqueline Pribyl finished with an 8.1; Ashley Gaffaney scored a 7.95; Aurora Zuelke scored a 7.65 and Payton Walberg scored a 7.6.

Pribyl scored a 6.8 on the bars; Como scored a 6.55; Gaffaney scored a 6.15; Walberg scored a 5.6 and Zuelke scored a 5.55.

Gaffaney scored an 8.1 on the beam, Zuelke scored a 7.45; Pribyl scored a 7.175; Como scored a 6.95 and Reese Navarro scored a 5.1.
