Library showcases new artist

Contributed report

Maple Lake Library is pleased to announce its 2025 Winter Art Exhibition. Beginning February 3 and ending March 29, the library will showcase the artwork of Buffalo resident Mary Ellen Gutknecht.

Mary Ellen believes ideas are mysterious things that emerge from spontaneous inspiration, experiences, and observations. As a result, she creates a wide variety of whimsical, imaginative art.

Mary Ellen was raised in the wooded mountains of Pennsylvania. She began her studies of drawing and painting at Pennsylvania State University. After relocating to Minnesota, she continued her art education at the Atelier School of Art in Minneapolis and at the Minnesota River School of Fine Art.

Currently, Mary Ellen is a member of the Buffalo Art Guild and as a member, her artwork has been displayed in several community locations. In addition, her paintings, drawings, and notecards can be seen at the Paramount Gift Gallery in St. Cloud. She presently works as a freelance Teaching Artist in area elementary schools.

This exhibition can be viewed during library open hours, Monday 12-6 p.m., Wednesday 3-6 p.m., Friday 12-6 p.m., and Saturday 10-1p.m.
